                                      BMPCC 2012 - 10th Annual Convention
                                      When:  June 15th - 17th
Location:  Marriott Gateway on the Falls, Niagara Falls, Canada

The Blue Mountain Pottery Collectors Club is proud to announce the tenth anniversary of the club.   This year we are holding the convention at the Niagara Falls Marriott Gateway Hotel.   To celebrate a decade of comradeship and collecting there will be no convention fees and each member household is entitled to one buy-sell table free.   Although the general public is invited on the Saturday morning 9:00 am to 12 noon to view and buy pottery and have pieces identified ($2.00 admission fee) you get the best of the convention by becoming a member and attending all the activities.  If you wish to become a member you can sign up here and receive all the details.

The glaze project:  This year the featured glaze is going to be candy stripe.  It is a colourful glaze introduced in Canada's Centennial year and produced for approximately two years 1967-68.  This striped dripglaze sometimes called pastel is a combo of light pastels....pale blue, green and caramel.   Everyone can participate whether you are able to attend the convention or not.  Send pictures of your candy stripe treasures to Lesley with Candy Stripe in the subject line of the email.  If your not on the internet, you can mail pictures in to be included in the slide show presentation.  If your going to be at the convention and are willing to bring your examples for a display, please let Lesley know that too.

Commemorative Souvenir:  The coveted BMPCC 2012 Limited Edition Souvenir will again be created by David Bennett, the last master mould maker and designer at the former Blue Mountain Pottery factory.  The picture of the prototype and details for ordering are in the February newsletter and orders will be accepted beginning March 1st, 2012.

                                      BMPCC 2011 9th Annual Convention
                                      When:   April 29th, 30th, May 1st
Location:  Blue Mountain Inn, 108 Jozo Weider Blvd., Collingwood, On.

Although the general public is invited on the Saturday morning (9 am to 12 am) to buy pottery and have pieces identified ($5.00 admission), you get the best of the convention by becoming a member and attending all the activities.  You can sign up here to become a member and receive all the details.

The glaze project:  This year the featured glaze is going to be slate.  It is a lovely bluish gray matte glaze with streaks of brown to black throughout.  Everyone can participate, whether you are able to attend the convention or not.  Send pictures of your slate treasures to Lesley with Slate in the subject line of the email.  If your not on the internet, you can mal pictures in to be included in the slide show presentation.  If your going to be at the convention and are willing to bring your examples for a display, please let Lesley know that too.

Rare Pottery and Glaze Round Table Discussion:  We are going to try something new this year at the convention; a discussion and photos/examples of rare pottery and glazes.  We all find interesting things when treasure hunting, and sometimes pass things over because we don't know what we are looking at.  If you have something strange or unique that you'd like to share with the group, bring it or a picture of it, and either teach us about it or learn from our more knowledgeable members.  Sounds like fun?

                                      Seasons Greetings!
This is a very busy season for all, and I am no exception.  I have been working on plans for the 2011 convention, and the first step was to create a survey to get all points of view on how we can develop the BMPCCs biggest event of the year.  Many thanks to those of you who took the time to participate.  The results of that survey will be posted on this website.

On a personal note; I decided that since every flat surface in my house seemed to have pieces of my pottery collection on it, it was time to create a showcase!  I wanted to update my family room so I painted, got some new window treatments, and put up a shelving unit for my most favourite pieces.  It was a lot of work for someone like me, but I am proud of the result.  I hope that many of you will be able to visit and take a look in person.

The rest of our executive have been working hard to keep the memberships current, develop this website, and keep the information flowing.  In the new year we will be sending out info on the convention and the souvenir.  I hope that you, your friends and family, create many happy memories this holiday season.
